The Role

As an Electronic Design Engineer at Ignitec in Bristol, you will embark on a thrilling journey in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. At Ignitec, we guarantee that boredom is never on the menu. Running multiple projects concurrently will be the norm, and you’ll be responsible for the entire process, from concept to manufacture. Required Skills

We are looking for candidates with the following skills:

  • C/C++: Strong ability in C/C++ programming languages.
  • Schematic Capture and PCB Layout (Altium): Proficiency in Altium for designing circuit boards.
  • Mbed and/or FreeRTOS: Hands-on experience with Mbed and/or FreeRTOS.
  • Hands-on Lab Skills: Adept in designing, building, testing, and debugging electronic systems in the lab.
  • RISC-V / ARM: Knowledge and experience with RISC-V and ARM architectures.
  • FPGA Design: /knowledge of FPGA design.
  • Simulation Tools: Proficiency in simulation tools like LTSpice, PSpice, and MatLab.
  • TCP, SSL, TLS, MQTT, CoAP: Understanding of networking protocols.
  • Design for ESD/EMC: Ability to design for Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) and Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC).
  • Strong Maths and Physics Knowledge: Proficiency in mathematics and physics.
  • Wireless Comms: Familiarity with ZigBee, Thread, WiFi, BLE, LoRa, and Matter protocols.
  • Low-Power, Miniaturised Design Skills: Expertise in low-power and miniaturised electronic design.

Advantageous Skills

While not essential, any of the following skills would be advantageous:

  • Python/Javascript/NodeJS/TypeScript: Proficiency in programming languages.
  • OpenWRT, Yocto: Knowledge of OpenWRT and Yocto.
  • Cyber Security for Embedded Systems: Understanding of embedded systems security.
  • Antenna Design: Expertise in antenna design.
  • Solidworks Knowledge: Familiarity with Solidworks.

Requirements

To be considered for this role, candidates should have:

  • A minimum of a 2:1 or above Electronics Engineering BSc/BEng or equivalent.
  • You must hold the right to legally live and work in the UK
  • You must be able to work from our office in Bristol
